Gali Hagel, a long time supporter of the Myelin Repair Foundation attended the New Almaden Music Festival last Saturday with our COO, Rusty Bromley. Both came to help communicate on behalf of our organization and to show support for

Rachel Quilter and Tom McQuillen’s work in organizing the festival.
Here’s her synoposis of the day:
Thanks to the amazing efforts of Rachel Quilter and Tom McQuillen, the New Almaden Music Festival was the happening place for MRF supporters from 1 to 11 p.m. this past Saturday, August 8th. Rachel and Tom single-handedly brought together all the ingredients of a great day—rockin’ music by Grampa’s Chili, Old Dead Bug, Corduroy Jim, Root, Taboo Voodoo and
Medicine Road; barbecue chicken, tamales and other goodies; friends, neighbors and others having a great time in the name of a great cause. Rusty Bromley, COO of the MRF, and representatives from the local chapter of the MS Society, both spoke to the crowd about the important work that MRF is doing.
Thanks to Rachel and Tom’s efforts and contagious enthusiasm, more than $3,000 was raised, funds that will be matched to double the impact. Thank you everyone for your support!!!

The two MS Society Chapter representatives talked with Rusty afterwards and were enthusiastic about the Myelin Repair Foundation research model. We’re happy to be winning over more people with our message every single day.
Rachel and Tom ended up raising $3,150 for the Myelin Repair Foundation and with our dollar-for-dollar matching grant the total amount raised was $6300. You guys truly rock!
Update on 8/17/2009: Another supporter and volunteer with the Myelin Repair Foundation, Sandi Selvi, gave her comedy act during the festival. Check out her blog: MS is Funny

This year’s festival was even better than last year’s Almaden Valley Music Festival. People came from near and far; bands even reunited just to play at this festival. Especially considering there were prominent festivals competing for audiences this particular day, extreme accolades are due to Rachael and Tom for planning, organizing, publicizing and producing this great gathering. Huzzah!!
IF this festival happens again next year, it’s NOT to be missed!
